the idol journey
i know it has been a while since i posted in this blog and might be a while before i post again. i've been preoccupied with scrappin moms' idol season 3. and afterwards, i will have to focus on our wedding preparations. it was my first time to join and i honestly expected/hoped to last only un til the 3rd round. so imagine my surprise when made it to the finals.
the finals was the same day as hubby's birthday but he was kind enough to let me go and let me shop. i didn't win but i learned so much and made some good friends along the way so i say, i'm still a winner in that sense. congratulations to all those who joined and the winners, as well as to scrappin moms for pulling this off. i don't know how they do it year in, year out. so anyway, i am sharing the layouts and an album i completed for the whole adventure. this post is a bit picture-heavy. anyway, that's it for me. have to get back to our invites now. happy long weekend ahead everyone.

adthis + basb
i was fortunate enough to have my lo picked for ad this april 13 challenge, you can view the announcement here. aside from the lovely rak from elisa, i also had the chance to play with them for the april 27 ad. the challenge was to use the ad below as inspiration and use dimension in your layout. i created the flower from a tutorial in the cosmo cricket site. i love how it turned out so i might be making more of this. i also created the pleated flower which i used as a backing for the letter b in my title. the glitter i used for the chipboard swirl created a bit of mess but i think it was worth it. for the layers of flowers on the upper left portion of the picture, i had to spray glimmer mist to get the exact shade of pink that i needed. and oh yes, we weren't really bridesmaids, we were part of the secondary sponsors. but bridesmaids make a better title, doesn't it?
adthis 27 gdt + basb challenge #11
when i was looking at my lo, i realized it had all the elements for basb challenge #11 that i wanted to join in. we were asked to use something old, something new, something, borrowed and something blue for the wedding. here's my list.
something old: the fuschia organza ribbon i used is part of my ribbon scrap stash, i had it since last year when i was picking out swatches for our wedding. and of course, the butterfly stamp - i have been using it for ages.
something new: new techniques i tried were the paper flowers at the bottom right and the pleated flower i used as backing for my title. picked up tutorials for noth techniques over the web.
something borrowed: the picture was borrowed from the photographer of my friend's wedding.
something blue: well, the rhinestones on the butterfly, one of the flowers on the upper left corner, the pleated flower and of course the patterned paper running in the middle of the page.

how can it be...
that the weekend is almost over? a work week doesn't go by this fast. anyway, quick post to share some lo's i created for journaling junkie's challenge #54 and the april 13 ad this. for journaling junkie, the challenge was to scrap a sequence of photos. for ad this, aside from the ad below, we needed to use liquid medium and stamps. i used glimmer mists and crackle paint and stamped on them. i must tell you it was messy but fun to do. i even tried embossing on glimmer mists! thanks for this challenge, i wouldn't have dared to try this out otherwise. enjoy the rest of the week. i know i will. :)

and before i go...
simply handmade is giving away a diecut machine here.
pebblesinc is giving away some chalk sets here.
marix is also having a rak in celebration of her 3rd blogoversary here, yummy goodies to be won.

once you pop...
...you can't stop. this is my layout for {create} make it happen's april challenge to use your scissors. i had to cut almost everything for this lo - the white damask on green mat, the flowers and vines i used as border, the stamped images like the butterfly, the fruit, the journalling and the vintage tag which i embossed. i started with the orange fascination yesterday and now i can't seem to stop. the next lo i am working on also has shades of orange. anyway, back to scrapping for me. i'm trying to get in as much scrapping as i can before this break ends. :)
{create}make it happen april challenge
p.s.
the journalling reads: "any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving that kiss the attention it deserves." and guess who said it? albert einstein!

some cards
a quick post to share some cards i made. i am not really a card making person but every now and then i find that they can be a quick crafting workout especially when i am itching to do play with my scrapbook stash but don't have the time or the mojo. two of these are for a friend who wants to surprise his girl. i don't think he or she reads my blog anyway so no risk sharing it here. back to work for me. hope you're enjoying the week so far.

in kobe again
flew in last night and will be back in manila on saturday. before i left i managed to wrap up some tasks, including finalizing our entourage and making cards for my girls asking them to be a part of my entourage.
i wanted to do something nice for my girls and to dabble in some diy. when i asked hubby if he wanted me to make something for his guys, there was this incredulous look on his face and he said, "no it's ok, i'll just text them."
every now and then when i would complete one stage of the project, i would turn to him and ask him if they looked good. he says they're pretty but we'll have to see if they're pretty enough to elicit a yes.
the next day when i was done, he asked, "when are you gonna give out your wedding achuchu?" since i am out of town, i've asked him to distribute them for me. anyway, here are some sneaks, i will post more pictures when the recipients get them. i wouldn't want to preempt anything.
anyway, that's about it for me. from rokko island, have a great week everyone.

something for the weekend
i took a leave this week to finish a training, do some scrapping and complete some wedding tasks. instead i find myself going in for training earlier than i when i usually go to work and staying there even later. the training is self-paced and the center is open from 7am to 11pm. my training ends next wednesday so i was trying to catch up on the lessons so i was there almost everyday from the moment it opens until it closes. so exhausting. i was planning to go there today but i am too tired.
anyway, i managed to sneak in some scrapping time and submit two los for two challenges. i have to take better pictures though. the colors aren't coming out like i want them too. i used absolument scrap stamps for both los. the first one with the bird is from the oiseaux set. the second one which i used as a journaling spot is from the floral set.
in case you want to win some bg goodies + more, drop by clare's blog.
also, marlene has some goodies up for grabs.
lastly, nes is also hosting a blog candy.
that's about it for me, now i have to finish my wedding tasks. have a great weekend ahead everyone. :)
