mojo overload

so my mojo has taken a leave for a month and has decided to return (and return with a vengeance it did) last week. i managed to complete 3 los (that is a record for me) and a card last week. the first lo was from the class i attended taught by no less than iris uy. come to think of it, maybe the mojo jumpstart was from attending her class? if that is true, i am happy i was able to sign up for 3 more of her classes from may-july.
i have to take a picture of the last lo i finished in less than 3 hours - probably the fastest i scrapped outside a competition. and did i mention i used scraps for this, except for the base cardstock? anyway, i am off to try to complete more cards and probably an lo. who knows, i might get lucky right? have a great week ahead everyone.

...scrapbook project for the day. i really have to get started with our wedding invites. sharing a card i made for simon says sketch challenge. i used the oval scallop spellbinder dies i won from sunflowers and dragonflies' card challenge. i picked it up yesterday, just in time for me to finish my card.

a card and an lo

still not as quick a scrapper as i want to be but maybe with more practice, i can churn out more of these in a day.
the card is for simon says stamp challenge, this week the challenge is to use tim holtz. i have just recently become a huge tim holtz fan (i know, what took me so long?). anyway, i managed to get the urban tapestry stamps and i am loving the set.
i was also able to finish the lo below for becky fleck's basic grey challenge. i've been eyeing the two new releases, lemonade and june bug, and i thought i might give it a try.
anyway, enjoy the rest of the weekend. there seems to be prospect of sun. :)

unexpected

work ended earlier than i expected so i was able to get in some scrap time. i am trying to "de-clutter" my layout and simplify things. the layout is for scrapbook challenges' blog hop using a sketch.

i also have a few cards for this week's october afternoon challenge to create a card based on the sketches using their new lines. it was a good thing my friend who was in singapore the other day got me some of the ducks in a row and cherry hill papers. it pained me to cut them but it had to be done.

anyway, i have to keep this short. i am getting anxious because i haven't heard from the arranger who was supposed to send the music sheets yesterday. have a great week ahead everyone. :)

a scrappy weekend

but no layouts to share, just a card and two birdhouses. the card is for basicgrey challenge #35, inspired by ice cream. mine was inspired by the delicious cherry chocolate ice cream, mouthwatering right? for the card, i used basicgrey boxer papers, my new tim holtz stamp (the first one i own and loving it!), some prima flowers and the butterfly from the k&co cut paste die cuts.

the next project are two birdhouses because one is just not enough. i am even thinking of making them as favors for our wedding. the pink one is for me and the blue one for hubby. i got the template from nicole heady here.
so back to the stories of the two birdhouses. the pink one is created for the allsorts challenge #1 to be inspired by sweets and cuttlebug be inspired challenge #31 to create anything but a card. you can tell i am not very fond of pink right?
i printed the template on white cardstock and sprayed it with pink bubblegum glimmer mist, the roof is an embossed watermelon cardstock. i created a tag with a stamped bird and tied it through the roof with a pretty pink ribbon. the bird stamp is from absolument scrap, ain't it cute?i put in a couple of my favorite chocolates and voila!instant gift.
i was so happy with how the first one turned out, i decided to make another one for hubby and submit it to artzdescrap birdhouse challenge. aside from the fact that it looks like a birdhouse, it is anything but a birdhouse but more of a paperweight and table ornament. short side story why i decided to make something that hubby can put in his office.
the other day, i dropped by their office and most of his colleagues had pictures of their wives or fiance on their desk. here's our conversation when we were in the car on the way home.

hubby: hon, can you give me your picture so i can put it on my desk?
me: hon, i say this with all the love i can muster but no. your desk is so messy and i don't want my face in a pile of garbage.
hubby: that's not said out of love.
me: yes it is, i could've just said no. when you clean up your desk, then maybe i will let you put my picture on your desk.

yeah, i know, it was a thoughtful gesture and i did feel guilty so i made him a birdhouse for his desk instead. but how to make a birdhouse for a guy? so i printed out the template on white cardstock again, sprayed it with juniper glimmer mist (don't you just love them?), made the roof the same way as with the pink birdhouse. i stamped an owl image that i can put in front of the birdhouse so it would seem like a bird is actually staying in the birdhouse. i didn't put a tag or ribbons through the roof. instead, i created a monogram (i tried to make the colors as masculine as i can really) and put it at the back.

the early bird

finishes a card. this is one of those days i am thankful for a hobby that can help me get through a bad day. sharing a card for oa's mother's day challenge cards and cps 115. i am crossing my fingers that i would win as i really want to get my hands on those yummy cherry hill papers. :)

two in a day

the unpredictable weather and the cloudy skies are not helping my attempts to take better pictures. anyway, here are two lo's i completed for sisterhood of scrap's challenges. for susan's challenge, we were supposed to use a fifties' slang in our title, i chose circled which means married. go figure. as you can see, i have a hangover from my adthis lo and i fell in love with the color scheme and the handmade flowers.
for carla's challenge, we needed to create an lo using a 12 inch circle, with something black and some bling. i used a scalloped circle, black vinyl thickers for my title and assorted gems and conchos. i tried to remove the flash but my meager photoshop skills are no good.
i also combined this with method playground's challenge #43 to use magazine clippings or pages in my lo. i created paper flowers using these colorful pages from a wedding magazine i had. i got it free from one of the fairs we attended and my mil already gave me a copy earlier so i didn't hesistate cutting it up. that's it for me. hope the weather cooperates tomorrow. and i will try to take better pictures. :)

early this year, i wanted to build a stash of cards that i can reach into whenever there is a special occasion. my stash is nowhere near half what i intended it to be but these wo should help me start. i am clueless about cards so it's a good thing there were these two amazing sketches from ic sketches and cps that were perfect for the challenges over at the sisterhood of scrap. for christina's challenge,we were supposed to use the diner menu as our inspiration and for candace's challenge, we were supposed to draw inspiration from the chordette's song, lollipop. isn't the penguin adorable?
