crate paper restoration + bird mini + flowers = love

i guess it's no secret that i love birds, birdcages, flowers, feminine colors and lately, min-albums. i guess it is a surprise that i wanted this long before i completed a project revolving around these elements. i guess i and my maya road bird album were just waiting for the right papers (i love crate paper's restoration line), pretty flowers (i had a huge haul from bangkok) and my scrapping mojo. i have not yet decided what to do with this, maybe a book of quotes or maybe another mini for hubby and me. anyway, hope your week is off to a great start.

but wait's there more

i told you i've been busy. i got this from our last trip to singapore. my friend who's also into crafts got a couple of the bigger stands to put pictures. i got both the stand and canvas plus a couple of metallic paints. love the colors, i think i'm gonna get more. i wanted to feature different themes for each canvas and play with colors. let me know what you think. :)

when it rains, there might be a storm

there's a storm heading our way and the cool weather brought by the rains makes me want to snuggle under the covers and stay in bed the entire day. but alas there's work to be done before i take my break in a couple of days. as promised, i am sharing more of the projects i completed.
this is from an art tray class by one of my scrapping idols iris uy a few months back. i finally got to finish it two months ago when we moved in to the new place. i wanted to have something i made to use as a decoration for the house. so what do you think?
anyway, if you're in manila, stay safe. will be back tomorrow to share more projects.

the idol journey

i know it has been a while since i posted in this blog and might be a while before i post again. i've been preoccupied with scrappin moms' idol season 3. and afterwards, i will have to focus on our wedding preparations. it was my first time to join and i honestly expected/hoped to last only un til the 3rd round. so imagine my surprise when made it to the finals.
the finals was the same day as hubby's birthday but he was kind enough to let me go and let me shop. i didn't win but i learned so much and made some good friends along the way so i say, i'm still a winner in that sense. congratulations to all those who joined and the winners, as well as to scrappin moms for pulling this off. i don't know how they do it year in, year out. so anyway, i am sharing the layouts and an album i completed for the whole adventure. this post is a bit picture-heavy. anyway, that's it for me. have to get back to our invites now. happy long weekend ahead everyone.

a scrappy weekend

but no layouts to share, just a card and two birdhouses. the card is for basicgrey challenge #35, inspired by ice cream. mine was inspired by the delicious cherry chocolate ice cream, mouthwatering right? for the card, i used basicgrey boxer papers, my new tim holtz stamp (the first one i own and loving it!), some prima flowers and the butterfly from the k&co cut paste die cuts.

basicgrey challenge #35

the next project are two birdhouses because one is just not enough. i am even thinking of making them as favors for our wedding. the pink one is for me and the blue one for hubby. i got the template from nicole heady
here.
so back to the stories of the two birdhouses. the pink one is created for the
allsorts challenge #1 to be inspired by sweets and cuttlebug be inspired challenge #31 to create anything but a card. you can tell i am not very fond of pink right?
i printed the template on white cardstock and sprayed it with pink bubblegum glimmer mist, the roof is an embossed watermelon cardstock. i created a tag with a stamped bird and tied it through the roof with a pretty pink ribbon. the bird stamp is from absolument scrap, ain't it cute?i put in a couple of my favorite chocolates and voila!instant gift.
i was so happy with how the first one turned out, i decided to make another one for hubby and submit it to
artzdescrap birdhouse challenge. aside from the fact that it looks like a birdhouse, it is anything but a birdhouse but more of a paperweight and table ornament. short side story why i decided to make something that hubby can put in his office.
the other day, i dropped by their office and most of his colleagues had pictures of their wives or fiance on their desk. here's our conversation when we were in the car on the way home.

hubby: hon, can you give me your picture so i can put it on my desk?
me: hon, i say this with all the love i can muster but no. your desk is so messy and i don't want my face in a pile of garbage.
hubby: that's not said out of love.
me: yes it is, i could've just said no. when you clean up your desk, then maybe i will let you put my picture on your desk.

yeah, i know, it was a thoughtful gesture and i did feel guilty so i made him a birdhouse for his desk instead. but how to make a birdhouse for a guy? so i printed out the template on white cardstock again, sprayed it with juniper glimmer mist (don't you just love them?), made the roof the same way as with the pink birdhouse. i stamped an owl image that i can put in front of the birdhouse so it would seem like a bird is actually staying in the birdhouse. i didn't put a tag or ribbons through the roof. instead, i created a monogram (i tried to make the colors as masculine as i can really) and put it at the back.

allsorts challenge #1 and cuttlebug be inspired challenge #31

that's about it for me. back to scrapping. enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.
