two in a day

the unpredictable weather and the cloudy skies are not helping my attempts to take better pictures. anyway, here are two lo's i completed for sisterhood of scrap's challenges. for susan's challenge, we were supposed to use a fifties' slang in our title, i chose circled which means married. go figure. as you can see, i have a hangover from my adthis lo and i fell in love with the color scheme and the handmade flowers.
for
carla's challenge, we needed to create an lo using a 12 inch circle, with something black and some bling. i used a scalloped circle, black vinyl thickers for my title and assorted gems and conchos. i tried to remove the flash but my meager photoshop skills are no good.
i also combined this with
method playground's challenge #43 to use magazine clippings or pages in my lo. i created paper flowers using these colorful pages from a wedding magazine i had. i got it free from one of the fairs we attended and my mil already gave me a copy earlier so i didn't hesistate cutting it up. that's it for me. hope the weather cooperates tomorrow. and i will try to take better pictures. :)

adthis + basb

i was fortunate enough to have my lo picked for ad this april 13 challenge, you can view the announcement here. aside from the lovely rak from elisa, i also had the chance to play with them for the april 27 ad. the challenge was to use the ad below as inspiration and use dimension in your layout. i created the flower from a tutorial in the cosmo cricket site. i love how it turned out so i might be making more of this. i also created the pleated flower which i used as a backing for the letter b in my title. the glitter i used for the chipboard swirl created a bit of mess but i think it was worth it. for the layers of flowers on the upper left portion of the picture, i had to spray glimmer mist to get the exact shade of pink that i needed. and oh yes, we weren't really bridesmaids, we were part of the secondary sponsors. but bridesmaids make a better title, doesn't it?

adthis 27 gdt + basb challenge #11

when i was looking at my lo, i realized it had all the elements for basb challenge #11 that i wanted to join in. we were asked to use something old, something new, something, borrowed and something blue for the wedding. here's my list.

something old: the fuschia organza ribbon i used is part of my ribbon scrap stash, i had it since last year when i was picking out swatches for our wedding. and of course, the butterfly stamp - i have been using it for ages.

something new: new techniques i tried were the paper flowers at the bottom right and the pleated flower i used as backing for my title. picked up tutorials for noth techniques over the web.

something borrowed: the picture was borrowed from the photographer of my friend's wedding.

something blue: well, the rhinestones on the butterfly, one of the flowers on the upper left corner, the pleated flower and of course the patterned paper running in the middle of the page.

i believe...

that if you can afford to splurge on launch parties and scatter your logo across a beach, then you should leave me well enough alone with my well-deserved albeit insufficient compensation. and if you say that this is the only way to go about this, then i believe you either have to think of something better or let someone else do the job you can't. eitherway, i don't think i should take the burden for your lack of talent and creativity. and when i say no, i mean it. my response might not be firmly stated or does not include a long drawn-out explanation but my decisions and my choices are neither arbitrary nor tentative. so please, leave me alone. i do not need to reconsider. i do not need the opportunity to reevaluate the situation. i understand perfectly what's going on, all too well perhaps. more importantly, please don't mistake my smile for docility or compliance, this is my feeble attempt to conceal extreme annoyance before i finally snap. i told you i am no good when i am pissed off. back to regular programming that includes only nice world of scrapbooking :)

more cards

early this year, i wanted to build a stash of cards that i can reach into whenever there is a special occasion. my stash is nowhere near half what i intended it to be but these wo should help me start. i am clueless about cards so it's a good thing there were these two amazing sketches from ic sketches and cps that were perfect for the challenges over at the sisterhood of scrap. for christina's challenge,we were supposed to use the diner menu as our inspiration and for candace's challenge, we were supposed to draw inspiration from the chordette's song, lollipop. isn't the penguin adorable?

how can it be...

that the weekend is almost over? a work week doesn't go by this fast. anyway, quick post to share some lo's i created for journaling junkie's challenge #54 and the april 13 ad this. for journaling junkie, the challenge was to scrap a sequence of photos. for ad this, aside from the ad below, we needed to use liquid medium and stamps. i used glimmer mists and crackle paint and stamped on them. i must tell you it was messy but fun to do. i even tried embossing on glimmer mists! thanks for this challenge, i wouldn't have dared to try this out otherwise. enjoy the rest of the week. i know i will. :)

and before i go...

simply handmade is giving away a diecut machine here.

pebblesinc is giving away some chalk sets here.

marix is also having a rak in celebration of her 3rd blogoversary here, yummy goodies to be won.

fun random things

a non-scrapbook related post...yes, finally. i do have a couple of other things in my mind, i just prefer to dwell on the pleasant things like scrapbooking. anyway, just some random things that either made my heart skip a beat or got me laughing today...happy easter everyone. :)

1.) japanese masking tape

i got a box when i was in tokyo last time. who knew they would create a stir? clever ideas to use them here. if i had known, i would've gotten a ton of them.

2.)terrariums

i love them! i want to use them for the wedding - as centerpieces and even as giveaways. any idea if anyone makes them here in manila? it's like having your own mini garden. i am currently googling how to diy a terrarium.

3.) wrong cards
i know these are mean and politically incorrect but i couldn't help myself...more here.

hopefully not the last

just a quick post to share my lo for method playground challenge #41, the challenge was to use more than one frame on your lo. not my usual colors but it was fun to play around a bit. can't believe monday's almost here. i feel like garfield crawling under his blanket to hide from the monday blues. enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.
